IL-4 Antibodies

Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a monomeric 20 kDa predominantly produced by activated T lymphocytes of the Th2 phenotype, by mast cells and by some antigen-presenting cells. Together with IL-2, IL-4 is an autocrine growth factor for activated T cells and for cytotoxic T cell precursors. IL‑4 is a major factor involved in the activation of resting B lymphocytes. Together with IL-13, IL-4 induces isotype switch towards IgE and IgG1 isotypes. Activated CD4+ T cells of the Th1 phenotype produce predominantly IL-2 and Interferon γ, whereas CD4+ T cells of the Th2 phenotype produce IL-4, IL-5, IL-6 and IL-10.
